You can listen to the soundtrack here.
Sure there is an unmistakable resemblance to Chor Bazaari, but Pritam adds enough spunk in the arrangement and Daler Mehndi and Richa Sharma in the vocals to have Zor Ka Jhatka deliver you a pretty good jhatka. The remix has Daler replaced by Master Saleem to equally good effect. O Bekhabar is again quintessentially Pritam, delivered gracefully by Shreya. With a 70s-like arrangement, Nakhre is the composition that truly reflects the context the movie is set in. Francois Castolino on the vocals and the rock-n-roll groove create a really heady mix. Loved the pa-pa-pa refrain by the chorus! Remix is decent, but not as good as the original.
Chhan Ke Mohalla came across as a series of unrelated segments, which in its entirety doesn’t make much sense. One of the soundtrack’s less attractive pieces this, despite Sunidhi and Ritu Pathak‘s commendable singing. Remix follows suit. Karthik has been having a wonderful outing in Bollywood this year. And here he is joined by Mahalaxmi Iyer and Antara Mitra in Tera Mera Pyaar, a beautifully orchestrated ambient melody. The remix is a good listen too, adding to the ambient effect in places. The cheery foot-tapper Dhak Dhak has its interesting points in its recurring Celt elements and Mika‘s exuberant rendition, but compared to some other tracks this one too scores low.
T-Series girl Tulsi Kumar is back with KK to deliver Luk Chup Jaana, but quite surprisingly I found her singing impressive in this. In fact her title loop is one of the most alluring parts of the song. Wonderfully arranged, this has everything that Pritam’s chart-toppers are known for. And just when you start thinking thats the best the soundtrack can give, enter Suraj Jagan with a super addictive track called I Am Dog Gone Crazy. If its not for the Hindi lyrics you would probably not even guess its a Hindi song! Baki Main Bhool Gayi, the last song, again showcases the composer’s way with orchestration, but coming after Dog Gone Crazy sort of becomes its undoing.
Six good ones out of nine. Pritam makes up for Aakrosh and how! Special bow for I am Dog Gone Crazy. One of his best in recent times imho.
