The title song is an extremely stereotyped Himesh tune, which was entertaining at the start of his heydays but now may work only with the most hardcore of Himesh fans. The cliche factor is accentuated by his singing alongside Sunidhi. Things are not very different in the Party Mix either. More stereotype follows with the (once again)Himesh-rendered Rabba Luck Barsa. The only non-Himesh element I found in the song was the recurrent humming which was slightly reminiscent of Hemant Kumar’s Yeh Raat from Jaal! The original is anyways way better than the remix, or the Party Mix as they call it. In fact Rabba.. is better than Kajra.. if you decide to ignore the repetitiveness.
Despite Himesh‘s nasal assault Aafreen sounds pleasing, mainly due to the quaint semiclassical arrangement highlighted by the sarangi accompaniment. Rather than have Harshdeep Kaur in the last one minute Himesh should have given the entire song to her and I am sure the song would have sounded much better. Same goes for Tujhe Dekh Ke which should have been left to Shreya alone, and it would have been a wonderful lounge type track with the kind of orchestration and her breezy rendition. But no, Himesh decides to grace this song too with his scintillating vocals with obvious results. Especially unbearable is the opening that Himesh gives to the song.
The 90s effect in the arrangement of Teriyan Meriyan and Shreya‘s enchanting vocals all get drowned once again in Himesh‘s vocals! Why oh why did Himesh have to feature his vocals in every song of the movie?! Woh Lamha also has Himesh laying waste to the efforts of Harshdeep Kaur with his singing! remix. avoid. Himesh completes his annihilation of Kajraare‘s soundtrack by accompanying Sunidhi in the final song as well, Sanu Guzra. The lounge mix sounds better than the original due to its orchestration, the kabab-mein-haddi as usual being Himesh’s voice.
Sincere request to Mr. Himesh Reshammiya: if you really want people to listen to your compositions, kindly refrain from singing them! Or at least restrict yourself to one song or so rather than “embellishing” every song with your nose.
Music Aloud Rating: 6/10 (If not for Himesh’s vocals this album might have received a rating of 7.5 types, but alas..)
Recommended tracks: Aafreen, Tujhe Dekh Ke, Sanu Guzra Lounge Mix
all the songs sound similar. none of them is a Himesh special. Looks like Himesh is out of form.. hoping he regains it. will be useful if he sharpens his singing talents rather than waste time acting.
SAYANIKASOUMYADIP, rather than blindly adoring him, try listening to the songs and and try to appreciate whats good… if there is any good that is. This album of Himesh is definitely not his best. looking forward to milenge milenge
@sayankiasoumyadip: i do reviewing as a hobby, just like ppl pen their thoughts on blogs. this is indeed a blog for me. like i said before, i was not taking out a personal vendetta at himesh reshammiya. and this is not the only album i have criticized on musicaloud. and it is not like i didnt like any song. you would notice 3 songs in my recommended tracks list. mebbe they dont match the chart toppers, but personal opinions do not always match wht the chart shows. as 4 avoiding the remix, again like i said before, i have had a negative opinion against remixes almost always.. request you not to take personal offense on my reviews. same goes to all himesh fans. request all to just consider this as a blog entry n not to turn all-out against me.
@VIP:
IT’S OK BUT THEN WHY ARE YOU WRITTING SUCH ‘FALTU’ REVIEWS OF YOUR OWN THOUGHTS ???
WHY TO AVOID … !!!
IF YOU NOT LIKED IT IT DOESN’T MEANS THAT EVERYONE SHOULDN’T LIKE IT ALSO …. SO KINDLY STOP TALKING LIKE NON-SENSE.
AND MAY NOT YOU KNOW BUT TITLE TRACK AND RABBA LUCK BARSA IS TOPPING MANY CHARTS !!!
@sayanikasoumyadip: i m sorry if i hurt ur sentiments, but these were my personal opinions. its not like i have something against himesh. i have admired his compositions in the past, and even here i luvd some of his arrangements. but honestly i do not appreciate him singing, at least not every song of the album! if you like it well and good. i don’t mind that. 🙂 as for the remix, i have mostly been against the concept of remixes, unless they turn out to be different from the usual dj turntables and electronic loops. and woh lamha i didnt like the original much, as a result the remix also i did not. simple as that. 🙂
