Composer Daler Mehndi’s sonorous prelude seems to herald something promising, until the 90s style beats kick in and convert Allah Hu into a tedious (and at times cacophonous) affair. Even in Bismillah what stands out is the singer’s sincere and powerful rendition. And once again the arrangement follows the beaten track and in the process bogs down the track. The reprise version however sounds much better, with a pluckier, piano-led orchestration.
Bismillah. Short, strictly functional, album from Daler Mehndi. Would have expected something more massy from the man who gave us Tunak Tunak and Bolo Ta Ra Ra.
