Nov 30th – Dec 2nd – Chennai will play host to the IndiEarth XChange – a series of think tank sessions between the Indian independent music and film industry, and key international delegates from developed and developing markets. The conference will double up as a world music festival, with over 20 renowned national and international
musicians performing, at The Park Hotel.
Where Independent Art Meets the World
Apart from an eclectic collection of showcases, film screenings, and musical performances, the IndiEarth XChange 2012 will also include sessions between Indian and international industry members, aimed towards building relationships that nurture culture and the arts. The XChange will operate as a platform for these collaborations, between artists and professionals. The focus will be on independent music, films, and artists from India, the Indian Ocean region, and beyond. The ultimate aim of the conference, is also to provide sustainable models of industry development and infrastructure. Delegates will include, from India, individuals like Grammy award winning Tanvi Shah; Luke Kenny of 9X0 – also former head of programming/artist relations VH1; Dhruv Jagasia of Only Much Louder; while international delegates will include individuals like musician, DJ and MC Israel Wysinger (Astroblack); Romuald Requena from Sakifo records (The Reunion Islands); French musicologist Jean-Noël Bigotti, to name just a few.
The line up of musicians includes renowned acts from both India, and from around the globe. Performing artists from India will include Baul poet Parvaty Baul; the critically acclaimed Peter Cat Recording Co.; popular funk/jazz band Something Relevant; global collaborative project Business Class Refugees; while international acts will include Pakistani Qawwali duo Rizwan and Muazzam; Welsh musician/poet Gwyneth Glyn; electro – Maloya musician Ti Fock (The Reunion Islands). The event is also slated to feature in world press as well as industry publications.
