A R Rahman yesterday came out with new single to spread faith and optimism in the event of widespread talks of the world ending on 21st December, which is today. The song is out in two versions – English, titled Infinite Love, and Hindi version called Behad Pyaar. While the English song has been penned by Rahman with Blaaze and Gil Levy (who are also the vocalists), Rahman’s Rockstar partner Irshad Kamil chips in with the Hindi lines for the other. The project has been done in collaboration with Mukesh and Nita Ambani. The song video also features ARR’s son A R Ameen among others.
While the intentions behind the song are totally appreciated, the track as such doesn’t seem that impactful. It is a nice track, has its high points (like that sitar piece in the second interlude) and I liked it better than his previous English single Pray For Me Brother. But after Kadal the bars are set higher, and on that scale this song doesn’t really cut it. Anyway, if this song helps spread a bit of hope like it intends to, then so be it. Below are the two versions.
PS: I don’t understand why people are labelling his ARR’s first non-film single in 15 years. What about the Taj Anthem? Or Pray For Me Brother? Or the Tsunami relief song? Or am I missing some detail here?
