You don’t need to see the credits to identify Mon Bhalo Nei as an Anupam Roy song, and not even because it is him handling the vocals. A song for your road trips, this one. The composer has his mates from The Anupam Roy Band assisting him here – Nabarun Bose with programming and arranging, Rishabh Ray on guitars and Sandipan Parial on drums. Shreya Ghoshal handles the vocals on Tomar Ki Naam that carries a cool urban vibe about it (Nabarun’s arrangement once again) and does a fine job, as usual. Some good work from Nabarun in the interludes in particular. Ghorir Kantar Mawto is a curious concoction – cheery vocal segments interleaved with dark instrumental sections – an engaging one, that said. Love Tanya Sen’s voice texture and singing style; reminded me of Hema Sardesai at times.
My favourite from the soundtrack is Tomar Shawhorey where Anjan Dutt commendably renders an engaging tune while Ritaprabha Ratul Ray’s arrangement (highlighted by his own guitar riffs) provides a breezy backdrop to the proceedings. The remaining two tracks are instrumental theme pieces from Neel Adhikari’s background score for the movie. Jimmy is a bit too long and is really interesting only in its final minute or so when the cello section gets introduced. Jaya works much better with its pleasant assortment of strings that deliver a soothing melody to splendid effect.
Shaheb Bibi Golaam. Not as impressive the director’s previous Bengali movie’s music, but a tidy soundtrack from Anupam Roy and Neel Adhikari all the same.
